About the PI

Catherine (Katie) D. Eichhorn, PhD.
Catherine attended Bryn Mawr College, where she received a B.A. in Chemistry and performed undergraduate research with Susan White to study the sequence dependence on RNA thermodynamic stability. She received a Ph.D. in Chemical Biology at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor, where she worked with Hashim Al-Hashimi (now at Duke University). Her graduate research used solution NMR spectroscopy to study the conformational dynamics and biophysical properties of RNA in order to understand riboswitch ligand recognition and RNA folding. She moved to Los Angeles to work with Juli Feigon at UCLA for her postdoctoral work. As a postdoctoral fellow, Catherine investigated the structure and assembly of the core 7SK ribonucleoprotein complex using solution NMR spectroscopy, X-ray crystallography, and biochemical methods. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, cooking and baking, and reading.
